Scheduling
VerticalSoft Chemical Processing provides easy to use, streamlined methods to plan or create production orders for both Make-to-Order and Make-to-Stock items. For more complicated operations demanding time phase planning for both purchasing and production, Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) and Master Production Scheduling (MPS) functionality is available.

The planning and scheduling features allow creation of a batch based on size demand from the MTO or MTS orders. Available material is considered to make a formula, based on the size of the equipment/line used to make the formula, or some combination of any or all of these factors. Tickets can then be released as production orders and scheduled to equipment/line by day.

VerticalSoft Chemicsl Processing provides a convenient scheduling screen for reviewing production orders. Within the schedule adjustments to dates, times and replanning can occur.

Production Control
Production orders and related finished goods items are captured in a production control system that records output and raw material items consumed in the process. Lot information on consumed raw material items is captured along with lot information created for items produced.

Quality Control
VerticalSoft Chemical Processing Quality Control allows a company to develop Quality Tests against manufactured items as well as against raw materials received. Quarantine procedures can be established to prevent release of the items until Quality Control tests are completed.

EDI
The EDI approach provides a single mapping tool that maps any VerticalSoft Chemical Processing data element to any EDI data element without the requirement of programming. This tool is further augmented by the addition of specific trading partner packages that include already mapped transactions for major trading partners. VerticalSoft Chemical Processing's unique development and operational environment makes this logical mapping approach possible.

VerticalSoft's enhanced sales granule optimizes multi-faceted sales operations: contract pricing, customer pricing, commodity market pricing, promotional discounts, quantity break discounts, multiple selling/pricing units of measure, off-invoice allowances, unlimited price levels, suggested retail price, customer authorization codes, future price lists, and recalculation of selling price based on a changed cost.

Dual Units of Measure
VerticalSoft Chemical Processing allows an inventory item to be set up so that two units of measures will be captured simultaneously with each transaction. ( Note, this feature is different than the feature that allows option unit of measure selection for a given transaction. )

The dual unit of measure feature results in more accurate inventory control and establishes flexible pricing methods on either unit of measure. This feature creates even larger advantages in purchasing and sales history analysis because full units and splits can be consolidated into a common unit of measure.

Catch-weighted products can be sold by the case and priced by the pound, and actual weights are captured rather than estimated weights during transaction processing, resulting in an accurate inventory control system not available in other ERP systems.

Deduction Management
Columbus IT's Deduction Management was designed to assist companies in managing the remittance process, in particular unallowed and allowed deductions that tie back to marketing plans if so desired. In addition, the granule allows for greater flexibility in applying customer payments than is offered in standard NAV. Users can quickly identify all payments awaiting application for each customer, and new and improved forms provide a comprehensive look at that customer's open entries, making it remarkably easy to apply a specific payment to a specific entry or entries. Deductions to these payments can be recorded and either posted along with the payment, or kept open within the system for resolution at a later time.

Extended Lot Tracking
VerticalSoft Chemical Processing provides a complete audit trail for lots with the Lot Tracking feature. The source of a raw material lot can be forward traced from receipt to production to sale. Alternatively, a finished good item sold to a customer can be backward traced from production and components used and their origin.

Lot controlled raw material and packaging receipts have unique properties. These properties are captured through Lot Specification functionality. For example, a company can record fresh spinach receipts by lot and specify with each receipt the farm it was grown, the chemicals used for growing, the date the field was planted, etc. This data can now be queried for lot attributes against production results (i.e. yields), sales history, etc.

Co-Product/By-Product
Most ERP systems record only one output per Bill of Material definition. VerticalSoft Chemical Processing allows multiple outputs to be defined for a process definition. These outputs can be established as co-products or by-products. Each output can be lot traced separately. Cost allocations are determined based on the output type, co-product or by-product.

Container Tracking
Container tracking provides a facility to track both consumable and returnable containers. All containers can be serialized and traced: drums, totes, railcars etc. Status of containers can be viewed onsite, indicating empty or packed including contents. On-Site and Off-Site inventory is available at any time. Weight and capacity information is captured allowing each container to be valued and stored by actual weight. Container history is readily available to facilitate the return process. Items can be packed in unlimited container types. Customers can then specify how items are packed at the time of sales order entry. Lot information can be tied to one or many containers, providing the capability of lot and sub-lot tracking.

VerticalSoft's automated data capture and bar code solutions enable complete control over the supply chain: raw material receipt, intermediate and finished product movement, customer requirements, destinations, catch weight, bill of lading, invoicing and distribution.
